
World Series of Classic Card Games Format
This format applies to the following Grand Prix World Series Events to be held in Atlanta, Georgia:
- The World Series of Pinochle [rules]
- The World Series of Spades [rules]
FORMAT (Schedule)
The format will consist of eight games, or rounds. Teams will draw for their first round table and opponents. A game will consist of 500 points. Thus, every Pair or Team will have a different opponent for each of their seven-game schedule.
Playoffs: Semi-Finals & Finals
At the end of the qualifying rounds, the top FOUR teams, based upon their won-loss records, will qualify for the World Series Playoffs. Ties for the last qualifying spot will be broken by the results of any head-to-head match, then point differentials. Semi-final and Finals matches will be the best two out of three games. The first seeds will be #1 ranked team versus #4 ranked team and #2 versus #3.
Playoffs: Consolation Matches
At the end of the qualifying rounds, the next FOUR teams (Teams #5 - 8) with the best won-loss records will qualify for the consolation matches. The seeding and format will be the same as for the top four teams (as described above).
Prizes
Prizes will be paid to the top FIVE teams (the big FOUR and the winner of the consolation matches).
Note - Teams who do not qualify for the Playoffs will be offered the opportunity to enter any of the side events.
